Balluku gives the long-awaited news: The Murriz Tunnel opens on March 14

The Murriz Tunnel, the most important work on the Arbri Road, will be opened to traffic on March 14. Work is currently underway on the final details, the installation and assembly of the necessary equipment, and the laying of asphalt layers for the tunnel's exit road.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, together with the Director of the Albanian Road Authority, Gentian Gjyli, inspected the works and were informed about their progress.

"On March 14, we will open the Murriz tunnel for access for all drivers in the direction of Tirana and Dibra. In the meantime, we are continuing and are currently working on the auxiliary tunnel which is part of this project," announced Balluku.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that the Arbri Road is one of the most important axes of the country, which is expected to give a boost to the economic development of the entire area.

"Along with spring, let's also open the Arbri Road, one of the most important national roads. One of the roads that will undoubtedly mark the economic growth of this entire area and will mark the growth of the tourism sector for the northern area," Balluku underlined.

The Director of the Albanian National Road Safety Agency announced that the works regarding the building where the equipment for monitoring the tunnel is being installed are also nearing completion. "At the entrance to the tunnel, the monitoring building is completed. The installation of equipment that will monitor the tunnel 24 hours a day, whether for accidents, various breakdowns or the fire protection system, has begun," said Gjyli.

The Murriz Tunnel has a length of 3.78 kilometers and consists of two tubes, one for traffic and one for emergency./ CNA
