"Opposition Radical Action"/ LZHK: National necessity of political

Chairman of the Movement for National Development, Ekrem Spahiu, has made a statement to the media regarding the political situation in September.

Spahiu has said that from September there should be a radical opposition action, which includes constitutional changes, the creation of a transitional government, and early elections.

In the statement made, LZHK says that cooperation in a common front of the entire opposition is necessary.

Declaration of the LZHK

We are leaving behind a very hot season of summer temperatures and politics, and the chances are that in September the "fires" will move from the forests to politics.

During these last 3-4 days, we have had two positive developments related to the elections of May 11, 2025 in Albania and the elections of February 9, 2025 in Kosovo.

The Central Election Commission in Tirana, finally, after more than 3 and a half months (109 days) through the Regulatory Commission, certified yesterday the final result of the parliamentary elections of May 11, 2025.

It is already known that these elections have been contested by the entire opposition and do not recognize them, while OSCE/ODIHR observers have expressed major problems with the elections in their preliminary report.

Everyone's eyes and ears are on the Democratic Party as the main opposition party, waiting to see what it will do in September and beyond!!??

Faced with this political reality, but also with the partial elections in the Municipality of Tirana and three others, the "Movement for National Development" reaffirms its position that political cooperation in a common front of all opposition factors and actors, using all democratic means and methods, is a national necessity to restore Albanians' faith in democracy and victory through free voting.

We believe that the radical opposition action should be the creation of a transitional government with a limited mandate to achieve:

- Constitutional amendments

- Review of territorial reform

- Electoral reform

- Early elections

The "Movement for National Development" has the national issue in the DNA of its program, and in this context, we follow developments in Kosovo very closely.

The Kosovo MPs, who emerged from the February 9, 2025 elections after a prolonged procedure, in their 58th attempt, voted on August 26 for the Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly. On this occasion, the "Movement for National Development" wishes the elected Speaker, Mr. Dimal Basha, success in his duty and the Kosovo Assembly good work.

On this very date, August 26, Serbian President Aleksandar Vu?i? announced that he had held a telephone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov about further deepening cooperation between the two countries and the political situation in the region. Vu?i? said that he had informed the Russian foreign minister about the situation in Kosovo: “... the ongoing efforts to expel our population from their centuries-old homes, as well as the silence of the majority of the international community.”

"The Movement for National Development" expresses its opinion that, with the turbulent geopolitics in the region and beyond, it would be good to vote for the new Government of Kosovo as soon as possible, based on the broadest possible coalition, to face all new challenges together but also to accelerate the development and integration processes of Kosovo for the benefit of the citizens and in accordance with the country's Euro-Atlantic aspirations./ CNA
