Këlliçi: Rama's strategy for waste, the next pit of corruption

Prime Minister Edi Rama said a day ago that the National Waste Management Operator will be created.

Rama's statements are followed today by a reaction from the opposition. Democratic Party (DP) MP Belind Këlliçi, in a statement to the media, stated that this project will be another corruption pit, another facade that will serve to steal Albanian taxpayers' money.

He emphasized that this project will be another corrupt affair after the incinerators.

"The Prime Minister who destroyed public finances with incinerators comes out and says he will establish a 'national operator for waste treatment'. This project is also expected to be another black hole of corruption, another front company where millions of euros from citizens' taxes will disappear. Because we are not dealing with reform, but with the same model, the disappearance of funds through propaganda and clientelistic contracts.

The Democratic Party reminds Albanians that in 2012, when the DP was in government, a serious strategy for waste treatment was drafted, based on recycling and a green economy, without corruption affairs and without violating the state budget.

Edi Rama, with the sole aim of benefiting his gang, rejected this strategy and invented the national incinerator project, turning waste treatment into a giant money laundering business.

"The truth is one and only one: the incinerator project is the theft of the century, while Rama's 'recycling' is simply the next corrupt affair," said Këlliçi./ CNA
