"Electoral farce cannot be accepted"/ Berisha in Vlora: Time to stand

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held the closing election meeting in the city of Vlora this Saturday. In his speech, Berisha said that on May 11, the people of Vlora will stand on the right side of history.

Berisha stressed that citizens can no longer accept political imprisonment and electoral farce.

Berisha stated that the departure of young people is a cry in the soul of every Albanian and that the DP's program aims at a great effort to return the nation to its youth.

Berisha said it is time for the DP to become the master of the Albanians.

"Vlora and the people of Vlora have stood on the right side of history in the most difficult times. I have absolute conviction that on May 11th they will be at the forefront of the right side of history."

Men and women who love freedom cannot accept political imprisonment. They cannot accept the electoral farce. They cannot accept the violation of citizens' rights. Vlora and the people of Vlora will stand on the right side of history on May 11. History calls them because on May 11 they part with the regime that emptied Albania more than anyone else.

Friends, what kind of nation are we today? Today, after losing 600,000 or so young people to other lands in other countries, the UN declares us the nation with the lowest birth rate in the world due to emigration. This is the siren, this is the cry in the soul of every Albanian. This is the path to the extinction of the nation.

Therefore, May 11th is also a day of celebration because together we renew the great effort to restore the nation to its youth. A nation that is not in its youth has no future.

Albanians are immortal, they have and will have their own future. Yes, friends, the time has come to stand up for them. May 11 is the hour of standing up for Albania and the nation. It is time to separate ourselves from an evil that is destroying Albanians.

My friends, voting for the right side of history means honoring and voting for your best tradition. Is there a greater tradition for us than the Albanian family? It is the miracle we have. Our mother is our greatness. This family was subjected to perhaps the most savage aggression it has ever known. Hundreds of thousands of families were forced to suggest to their children that they emigrate because they had no food.

Trying to incite division, contempt within the family and its values. And here in Vlora, what did he do? Did Vlora have anything more beautiful, more traditional for every Albanian than the Flag Square? He took it, he alienated it. I will never forget the 100th anniversary here. In Vlora that night there were over 1 million Albanians, coming not only from Kosovo and Macedonia, but from all over the world. They flooded the Flag Square, the symbol of the nation. And this one came out, he used his power to disfigure the square. The Square is turned into identity, there is no discussion, but shame covers those who trample on our tradition.
