Motion with debate on setting the living wage/ The Conference of Mayors rejects

The Conference of Speakers under the leadership of Speaker Niko Peleshi held a meeting today.

On the agenda was the request of some of the Democratic Party deputies "For the development of the motion with debate on the lack of determination of the living wage as well as the concrete steps that have been taken to approve the living wage in Albania".

At today's meeting regarding this request, no agreement was reached between the parties and the matter was referred to Parliament for consideration.

Today's meeting was accompanied by debates between the majority and the opposition.

In his speech, the head of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, said that the Assembly agenda includes only government initiatives and no opposition initiatives. Bardhi further said that the opposition cannot simply be a facade in Parliament.

 

" It doesn't happen in any democratic country that the agenda of the Assembly is set 100% by the government. There are only government initiatives on the agenda and no MP initiatives. It was said here that more requests for debate have come in than in 4 years combined. Why, who asks you? You determine this.

We were told here that 1.8 billion euros are being given per month. That's 36 thousand old lek per family in need. Can Taulant live on 36 thousand lek per month? No, he doesn't. We were told that it's the "biggest budget", but this is a budget for theft, it doesn't go to the citizens.

"The opposition cannot be a facade here. You are looking for a facade opposition. And this, Speaker, is your issue. You must take measures to respect the rights of the opposition, otherwise the opposition has nothing to do here. We are not a facade ," Rama said.
