Opening of group chapters/ Kos appeals to the majority: Work with the opposition

EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos delivered her speech at the Intergovernmental Conference where the final integration chapter was opened.

Kos said that today shows that the EU can rely on Albania in the future.

The Commissioner stated that the opening of all group chapters would not have been possible without Albania's commitment and the support of EU countries.

Kos further stated that Albania must meet the intermediate milestones to achieve integration. The commissioner also called for cooperation between the government and the opposition as well as civil society.

 

" Today is a special day not only for Albania, but also for the EU. Today shows that the EU delivers results and we can rely on Albania in the future. This would not have been possible without the commitment of Albania and the support of European leaders."

You are an inspiration to many citizens in the Western Balkans. Closing the group chapters is the real price.

"Albania must meet the intermediate milestones. This will not be easy, but you have the support of all candidate countries. Work with the opposition in Parliament, with civil society. Our role is to ensure that Albania is well prepared when it becomes a member ," Kos declared.
