SEECP summit concludes/ Begaj: Albania reaffirms Israel's right to security

The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, delivered his speech at the closing of the SEECP summit.

Begaj expressed concern about Israel-Iran tensions and said that our country reaffirms Israel's right to security.

The president has also called on Iran to halt its nuclear and ballistic programs.

" Albania expresses concern about the tensions between Israel and Iran. This conflict has serious consequences for the Middle East and beyond."

Albania reaffirms Israel's right to the security and protection of its citizens. We also call on Iran to halt its nuclear and ballistic programs and fulfill its obligations in accordance with international law, including the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

Albania calls on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation and find a lasting solution.

These conflicts are for Southeast Europe a warning and a reminder of the fragility of peace and the speed with which instability can spread.

Albania will continue to play an active and responsible role in regional cooperation, and remains committed to the principles of this platform and important issues related to regional stability, economic development and reforms towards European integration. We reaffirm our commitment to good neighborly relations, regional cooperation and the promotion of peace, stability and prosperity.

For this reason, EU countries should provide political and concrete support to EU aspirant countries on their path to membership, on the reform agenda, ensuring that the integration perspective remains real, tangible and credible for the entire region. Albania is moving at a rapid pace towards European integration, as we continue to remain loyal to the democratic values ??of NATO. Our goal is to close negotiations in 2027 and integrate in 2030. We are working intensively to achieve this major goal and chairing the EU-EU Council was another proof of our seriousness on the European journey ”, said Begaj./ CNA
