The piloting of the Summer School/Manastirliu starts: 10 public schools in

The implementation of the new Summer School model began today in 10 public schools in Tirana, Kamëz and Durrës. This program includes children from first to fifth grade, combining learning with fun, care and socialization.

The Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, was today at the "Emin Duraku" school, one of the schools where the implementation of the program has begun.

"We have just started with the Summer School, where for two weeks, starting today, in 10 schools, 8 in Tirana, 2 in Kamëz and Durrës, we will pilot the new model of the Summer School near our pre-university education structures. A request undoubtedly from parents, but also a need of the hour to mobilize all our forces with teachers, but also with the support of our partners", said the Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu.

The Summer School will take place every day from 08:00 to 13:00 for a two-week period in each school. During this time, children will participate in a variety of activities such as: arts and crafts, foreign language learning, coding, sports, creative games, STEM projects, book discussions and conversations with guests from various fields of public and social life. The program's specialty is the provision of healthy meals for all students.

Minister Manastirliu said that psychosocial workers, security officers, nurses, but also young volunteers from Tirana high schools have been engaged in the implementation of the program.

"There will be 1,000 children who will benefit, there will also be volunteers from high schools who have been involved. There are 100 young people from high schools in Tirana, there are 150 teachers, security officers, social workers, psychologists and nurses who have been involved in the summer camps in our schools," said Manastirliu.

The Summer School is part of a broader plan by the Ministry of Education and Sports to promote social inclusion and child development.

"This is a project that is being piloted to see the possibility of extending it to other schools in the coming years. It makes it much easier for parents during the summer to bring their children exactly to the facilities where they are used to, to their schools. We have organized numerous activities, there are about 10 entertainment clubs or even learning through play, safe spaces for children, but above all spaces where children can be educated, socialize with each other and above all spend the summer period under the care of teachers.", - emphasized the Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu./CNA
