Assembly Session/ Balla presents the draft law on Energy Performance in

The Minister of State for Parliamentary Relations, Taulant Balla, presented today in the Assembly, on behalf of the government, the draft law on energy performance in buildings. But first, referring to the Assembly's regulations, Balla responded to the opposition's requests that the draft law be presented by the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku.

"We have never changed Article 73 of the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly regarding the right of deputies in point 2 to ask questions. The article says: to the initiators or members of the Council of Ministers who are related to the draft law. The Minister of State is one of the members and has voted for the draft law in the Council of Ministers." - said Balla.

The minister then continued with the presentation of the draft law which, according to him, makes Albania the first country in the region to fully and ambitiously implement the latest European Union directive in this field.

This legal initiative aims to radically transform the way buildings are constructed and renovated in Albania, with the objective that by 2050, all public and private buildings will be converted into buildings with minimal energy consumption.

Minister Balla emphasized in his speech that the law is not a formal approximation with the EU, but a concrete and structured policy that focuses on citizens, the environment and energy saving.

As of February 1 of this year, the price of electricity for household consumers decreased by 10.5%, benefiting 95% of Albanian families, around 1,070,000 subscribers.

"A family saves an average of 100 euros per year, just from this intervention we made in February, and the government's focus is on supporting those who earn less. All this data is proof that Albania is also on the right track in the field of energy and in this historic mandate that Albanians entrusted to us with more votes than ever before, precisely to stay true to the promise given to conclude with Albania a member of the EU within this mandate." - said Balla. /CNA
