"Let's aim for a transitional government"/ LZHK: Let's

The LZHK has made a statement regarding the May 11 elections, stating that it takes responsibility for the loss.

Furthermore, the LZHK statement states that they could be considered invalid and that their legitimacy is currently in serious question.

In the statement made, LZHK demands that an in-depth analysis of the elections be conducted and that the responsibilities that belong to the opposition be taken.

The LZHK also calls for the unity of the opposition front to aim for a transitional government.

Full statement

"The Movement for National Development" is the only entity that has analyzed the political elections of May 11, 2025, taking responsibility for the loss, but very soon time justified that two-year investment by the LZHK to carry out an electoral reform according to democratic standards in favor of free, fair, honest and accepted elections by the competitors.

If this were to happen, the entire opposition would be united and the situation today would be different.

Although a month has passed since the voting took place, the final result seems far away, not to mention that the elections may be heading towards their invalidity. The recount of votes by the CEC, so far in about 50% of the polling stations, shows that the legitimacy of the elections is in serious question.

Time proved us right that the "Movement for National Development" asked the entire opposition;

1. Equality of vote, with a national proportional system or 4 electoral zones

The consequences of this electoral system:

- PS with 53.27% of the votes out of 74 mandates has received 83 mandates, + 9

- DP with 32.93% of 46 mandates has received 50 mandates, + 4

- The initiative with 4% of 5 mandates has only received 1

- All parties outside the SP & DP received 221,811 votes, 15% of the votes out of 21 mandates, they received only 7 mandates, - 14

2. Fully open lists

Consequences of 1/3 of the candidates being on the closed list:

- Discrimination of candidates even within a subject, someone becomes an MP without any votes at all and someone with around twenty thousand does not become an MP.

- The inequality between candidates of the same party did not motivate opposition candidates to campaign among the gray electorate.

3. Electronic voting and counting

Consequences of counting by commissioner;

- A month has passed since the vote counting and we still don't have official results.

- Exhaustion of commissioners, counters, observers, candidates, etc.

- Manipulation and contestation of votes, especially for preferential ones.

- Very high financial cost.

4. The diaspora vote

If we did not have a national proportional system, the LZHK requested that one more Region be added just for the diaspora, from 12 to 13.

Consequences;

- The 200,000 diaspora votes did not produce any mandates, as they were distributed across 12 districts and changed only one mandate in Vlora.

Regarding the above, all these consequences are only from the Electoral Reform, which, by adding to the entire state infrastructure that the government used to manipulate the Albanian vote, the "Movement for National Development" expresses its position that on May 11, 2025, there were no elections, but voting.

We will continue to do our duty for the benefit of democracy, Albanians and Albania. In this context, the "Movement for National Development" believes that it is a national emergency to focus on:

1. Continuing to collect facts that have distorted the will of the voters and sending them to the CEC and internationals.

2. Conducting an in-depth analysis, which will reveal the objective responsibilities of the opposition.

3. Political unity in a common front of all opposition factors and actors, to aim for a transitional government with a limited mandate to achieve:

- Constitutional amendments.

- Review of territorial reform.

- Electoral reform.

- Early elections.

The "Movement for National Development" expresses its willingness to engage in this process and has the full conviction that the opposition will rise up strongly to change the current reality in Albania./ CNA
