The deputy of the Democratic Party, Tritan Shehu, in an interview with the journalist Fabjona Pasho of CNA TV, commented on the measure against the former prime minister Sali Berisha, considering it a continuation of a conspiracy started some time ago against the opposition.

"It is in a real conspiracy to undo the Albanian opposition, to undo the Democratic Party. To create a fully functioning opposition under Rama's leadership and governance. PD is on the offensive. The recent decisions against Mr. Berisha are part of this aggression. Today there are no more imprisonments, no more shootings, no more hangings as there were in '47 and later in Albania, or even communist countries. Today, autocratic regimes have their own modern ways of eliminating opposition, or of creating fictitious opposition. I am not against the pursuit of judicial processes against anyone, it is normal, but until the person is punished by a final decision, there is a presumption of innocence", said Shehu.

Shehu called on his democratic colleagues to continue the opposition action outside the parliament by extending it to the national level.

"We must express the synchronization outside the parliament. We are together in the parliament hall, so we must also be in the parliament hall, to push forward the popular movement", said Shehu. 

The deputy extended the hand of cooperation to the deputies who support Lulzim Basha, saying that they should unite in the same way, as DP sympathizers have done. 

"All colleagues, those who still hesitate, must understand that the time lost is against democracy. We must all be together, not just the parliament hall. It is a necessary step to take and to give a clear message, that all militants, DP activists as a whole are united, but they are all united in the DP led by Berisha", he said. .
