Deputy Tritan Shehu has denounced the theft of medicines from Albanians.
In a status on social networks, Shehu says that the prices of medicines are much higher than in EU countries, while emphasizing that they come from "unsafe" origins.
According to him, the arrival of medicines of Western companies, certified by the EMA, is being deliberately hindered.
Thus he emphasizes that the Albanians, in addition to being stolen, are also ill-treated.
Full denunciation:
Badly treated and stolen!
In Albania, in pharmaceuticals there are two very negative phenomena:
1- The prices of "safe" medications are much higher than in EU countries.
2- The market is dominated by medications of "unsafe" origin!

The arrival of medicines from western companies, certified by the EMA, i.e. "safe", is deliberately prevented.
Either by not placing these in the refund list, or by not applying the "controlled liberalization" principle in import procedures.
This leads to filling the market with medications of "unsafe origin", as well as high prices for the few "safe" ones.
This also stimulates the "smuggling" of the latter.
Driven by the wrong and corrupt policies of the state, which favor medications of "unsafe origin", when the opposite should have happened!

Two examples:
--Ung. Locoidon, certified by EMA, is sold in Italy 7.9 E tubeta.
In Albania, the same Italian product costs 1630 lek, i.e. more than twice as much.
Not counting here that in Italy you get it for free from the refund.
--Another "safe" medication, eg. Daktarina, which came from Italy from the Janssen company, has been out of circulation for months.
And it has been replaced in the market by the Serbian production Daktanol.
Now the withdrawal of large Western companies is a widespread phenomenon, due to the backward policies in Albania.

Filling the market with eastern or local products not certified by EMA.
At a time when we need to stimulate in our market medicines certified by EMA and circulating in the main countries of the EU.
Unfortunately, the opposite happens mostly in our country, either with the prices of medications, or with their origin.

So Albanians are offered medications:
1- With much higher prices than, for example, in Italy for the "safe" ones.
2-Or medicines of "unsafe" origins, with which the market is filled.
This is a low-minded, clientelistic pharmaceutical "policy", completely contrary to the quality of treatment and the needs and finances of the citizens.
Which in the final analysis significantly increases the real cost of treatment for the state./ CNA
