The Chairman of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, has spoken about the illegal financing of parties in the Special Disinformation Commission. Celibashi admitted that the CEC does not have the mechanisms to control the sources of money.

"No claim has been made regarding financing from malicious countries because if this was the case, of course everyone knows that we are in fundamental violation of the legislation and everyone who received these financings has shown care that they are not made public. CEC finds it very difficult to get information. The only information is to ask subjects but there is no mechanism to verify if the statement is true.

Criminal institutions are dealing with such cases. Should the CEC deal with such cases? I don't know how to say it, I'm in a dilemma, I see it as inappropriate, I think it's not, but the CEC may have the opportunity to identify evidence and present it to the responsible institutions", said Celibashi.

According to Celibashi, the Electoral Code and the law on parties need to be amended to give the possibility of verifying illegal funding for parties and then address them to the competent bodies.

The Special Disinformation Commission headed by Erion Braçe was developed like many other commissions without the presence of the opposition./ CNA
