Intensive Monday for the Parliament/ Peleshi calls on the heads of parliamentary

Monday will be the start of a very intense week for the Albanian Parliament.

It is learned that the newly elected Speaker of Parliament, Niko Peleshi, will call the chairmen of the parliamentary groups.

According to information, this meeting will seek names for the chairmen and members of committees and the composition of other bodies, the Parliamentary Bureau or the Council on Regulations and Mandates.

Monday is expected to convene for the first time for meetings and discussions with newly sworn-in MPs.

The session for the swearing-in of new MPs and the election of the Speaker of Parliament took place on Friday, divided into two parts and led by Vasil Llajo of the Socialist Party, as the oldest MP, after Sali Berisha and Tritan Shehu of the Democratic Party refused to open the session.

Representatives of the four religious faiths in the country were also present.

The first plenary session of the new legislature was held with a pre-determined agenda for the swearing-in of 138 out of 140 deputies, after Tom Doshi and Sabina Jorgo announced their resignations. Their mandates were passed to Osman Tata and Bledar Mezini.
