This Tuesday, numerous discussions took place in the Committee on Culture, Tourism and Diaspora regarding the draft law "On the Book in the Republic of Albania", as amended.

Various publishers were also present, who were extensively involved in the debates.

Among them, publisher Bujar Hudhri made harsh statements and accused them of a lack of attention to the book in Albanian.

According to the publisher, Albania is not investing enough, both in libraries and in publishing funds.

The publisher also raised the lack of Albanian primers for children of Albanian families in the diaspora as a concern.

"I've been doing this my whole life. It has never been interested in the internationalization of our culture. Albania has only been to the Frankfurt Book Fair once. Meanwhile, we also have the other Albanian state, Kosovo. There is a stand that you would like to see that they invest in. Albania does not invest. Why doesn't the Albanian state send books to Frankfurt? I have also sent letters to the ministry. This is a shame. The district libraries are zero, but so are the schools. They are books from before the '90s. We don't want them to know anything about it. And what put a dent in the book was the VAT. It was charged 6%, it is not clear what the value of the book is, but they are not sent anywhere without a tax invoice. This is a scandal. The other thing is that I have been abroad. We have met parents who want primers. How can this state not send primers to its children around the world. It spends millions on infrastructure, but books and primers are not purchased.
