The head of the SP Parliamentary Group, Bledi Çuçi, has acted as the lawyer for the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, who is under investigation and several directors and officials have been arrested for the Tirana incinerator affair and for the "5D" file.

Ignoring the corruption of the directors of Veliaj, Çuçi expressed support for the mayor of Tirana.

He claimed that Veliaj does not get dirty by any kind of mud and described him as the most successful mayor that Tirana and SP have had in these years.

"Erion Veliaj is the most successful mayor that Tirana and SP have had in these years. The historical transformation of Tirana is a reality that cannot be soiled by any mud that can be thrown on the figure of the mayor. We are honored that we have chosen from our region or from our part a mayor who honors not only Tirana but beyond Albania, every socialist or every Tiron, with deeds and not with words. Other issues are issues related to law enforcement sectors. The SP group gives absolute support to Veliaj", he said in a conference with journalists.

Asked if Veliaj is even more successful than Prime Minister Edi Rama, who was also mayor, Çuçi changed his attitude.

"Not in these years, I said... since we govern together and at the central and local level", declared the head of the SP Parliamentary Group.

Also, he was asked by the journalists if he respects the arrest of the directors of Verliaj, after the boast he made about the latter.

"We are not honored by the arrest of the directors, but we must wait not to rush to wait for the last word of justice", Çuçi emphasized./ CNA
