Another humanitarian aid shipment from Germany has arrived in Pogradec, bringing numerous supplies for schools, kindergartens, public institutions and families in need. Three trucks with benches, chairs, teaching aids, sports equipment, beds for paraplegics, wheelchairs and other materials were unloaded in the city, as part of the cooperation between the German Motorists and Truckers Association and its representatives in Albania.

The history of this humanitarian initiative began about 25 years ago. The former president of the German association, Hermann Munzel, says that initially the goal was to unite groups of bikers from different countries in Europe, but very soon their activity also took on a humanitarian dimension.

"I come from the Association of Motorcyclists and Truckers from Germany and I am the former president of this association, which started 25 years ago from different groups in Europe, to bring them together and talk about how we can provide assistance, transport to the Balkans. The first transport started simply with a box, a small crate with medical supplies. And we took these on motorbikes. The second transport was three trucks that went to Bosnia in 2004. Over the years, this transport grew, expanded. At first, this association was called Eurobiker, then later it was called the Motorcyclists and Truckers Group. We are supported and have help from many private companies and from the contacts they have, meaning we manage to go to different countries. Six years ago, they were guests at my restaurant. That's where we started the conversation and the idea of ??helping the city of Pogradec was born. At first, we dealt with the transport of medical supplies for hospitals and later, "According to the city's requirements, we have brought furniture for schools and kindergartens. This is the 29th transport we have carried out and we are under the umbrella of the European Community," said Hermann Munzel, former president of the Motorists and Truckers Association.

The cooperation with Pogradec was made possible thanks to Juliana Dita, who is part of this association and has been mediating the arrival of humanitarian aid to her hometown for years. She says that this is the third time that such a transport has been organized for Pogradec.

"In addition to being a resident of this city that I love very much, I am also a member of this association. This is the third time that we have brought humanitarian aid to Pogradec. The first time was in 2022, the second in 2024 and this is the third time. This time the transport also aimed to support the bikers' and truckers' festival, organized by Dritan Hoxha in cooperation with the bikers' group and with the help of our association. The trucks brought benches, chairs, blackboards, sports equipment, equipment for cabinets, as well as beds for paraplegics, wheelchairs and aid for families in need," she said.

Meanwhile, organizer Dritan Hoxha emphasizes that the promise made during the organization of the bikers' activity has been kept and that all materials will serve the community, without any individual benefit.

"We are keeping what we promised. Together with our German friends, we are unloading the aid we have brought from Germany. I also thank our friend Juliana, who made the connection between us and Biker Brumme Hilfe possible. We are currently unloading the second truck. As you can see, there are benches, benches, school supplies and finally paraplegic beds. The community of Pogradec will have a great benefit, because all these materials are for schools, gyms, city ambulances and a part for the Pogradec Police Station. Nothing will be used for private purposes", said Hoxha.

This is the 29th humanitarian transport carried out by the German Motorists and Truckers Association, while for Pogradec it marks the third time that it benefits from this initiative. The equipment is expected to be distributed to educational, health and social institutions, contributing to improving conditions for students, people with disabilities and the community in general. /CNA
