Muçollari's denunciation: Biscuits with metals and dried tomatoes
Grigels Muçollari

The member of the Presidency of the DP, Grigels Muçollari, denounced today from the blue seat that many products banned by the European Union have been imported into Albania.

He said that neighboring Italy has announced that a quantity of children's biscuits containing unknown metal fragments has been introduced into Albanian territory.

Meanwhile, according to Muçollari, another document dated February 8 that comes from Switzerland announces that a significant amount of dried tomatoes from Tunisia, with a high content of prohibited pesticides, has entered our country.

He adds that the third case is another document, dated April 17, which shows the alert coming from Estonia about the high-risk milk protein.

Muçollari accused AKU of not taking any measures regarding these products.

Full statement:

The lack of food security in the country is shocking and has serious consequences for the health and lives of citizens.

All the failures and corruptions of the Renaissance in these 11 years have left their mark on everyone's life. But food insecurity has irreversible effects, and this is shown by the increasing numbers of diseases, which mainly come from harmful foods.

Today we will make public 3 cases that prove how criminal the government and its levers are.

The authorities of the neighboring countries and the EU announce that products containing dangerous substances have entered the Albanian territory and ended up on the market. The Albanian Government, through AKU and other law-enforcement institutions, do not perform the duty provided for in the law. This inaction means that harmful, poisonous, or carcinogenic substances enter the body of children, the elderly, and every Albanian who consumes them.

The government, with the National Food Agency, would have to protect us from this attack.

According to this document provided by the European Commission's RASFF system, neighboring Italy informs us that a quantity of children's biscuits containing unknown metal fragments has been introduced into Albanian territory.

The government has not fulfilled its duty, which is to communicate the risk to the public or block this product. Biscuits with the presence of metal particles are being sold freely in our markets putting children's health at serious risk.

Another document dated February 8, which comes from Switzerland, announces that a significant amount of dried tomatoes from Tunisia, with a high content of prohibited pesticides, has entered our country.

Again, the Government has not fulfilled its duty to inform the public. Again no action taken by AKU.

Another document, dated April 17, shows the alert coming from Estonia about milk protein, with high risk. Again, AKU has not performed the task provided for in the law for efficient public information, and no one knows if the trade of this product has been banned.

The communication of the risk related to these products, a legal duty of AKU, is carried out by the Alert Center through its website. A non-profit consumer protection organization with a very modest budget finds the responsibility that an entire government should have to ensure food safety.

Why do the responsible institutions not implement the law?

The lack of responsibility and the galloping corruption that has invaded the state offices are the reasons that these Renaissance officials endanger the health of children, the elderly and everyone who lives in the Albanian territory, whether they are democrats, socialists or non-party.

Food security is a matter of national security. Anyone who endangers people's lives must and will be held accountable before the law.

The Democratic Party has food safety as one of its main commitments. Our experts are working on a program with clear solutions.

Food security, life security, future security can only be built with free elections and responsible governments./ CNA
