Berisha, under investigation for corruption/ Kumbaro: We respect the separation

The Minister of Tourism, Mirela Kumbaro, after the government meeting, did not comment on the investigations and the security measure that SPAK has imposed on former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.

She emphasized that the Rama government has worked to establish the Special Prosecutor's Office and the Special Court and that this majority respects the separation of powers. The minister further emphasized that we should all wait with patience and trust for the work done by SPAK representatives.

"We never make comments, but we respect the separation of powers. This government, this majority, was the one that established, worked to ensure that this justice system, such as the Special Prosecutor's Office and the Special Court, functions in the best conditions. These are actions. procedural, they do not comment and I do not make any exception for the case in question. I am not even a lawyer, I am a member of the government, I was a deputy when this system was created and we believed that it should function freely. Let us respect independence in the justice system. Let's all wait with patience and trust for the work done by SPAK representatives", said Kumbaro.

This Wednesday, the court session will be held against former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, for the "Partizani" case. The hearing for the former prime minister is set to be held at 2:30 p.m.

At yesterday's session, Berisha did not appear at the GJKKO, but was represented by his lawyers, Genc Gjokutaj and Sokol Mêngjezi.

The former prime minister himself declared yesterday in a conference with journalists that he will not go to court unless the measure "mandatory appearance" is removed, which he claims is unconstitutional.

Berisha is suspected of having committed the criminal offense of "Passive corruption of high state officials or local elected officials", committed in collaboration with his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezin.

SPAK claims that Berisha, in his capacity as Prime Minister, has favored the privatization procedures of the former "Partizani" complex and the direct beneficiary has been Malltezi.

On the land of the former "Partizani" complex, Malltezi, as an investor from the company "Homeplan" sh.pk, has carried out constructions and the benefits are calculated in the amount of 672 billion ALL or 5 million euros. /CNA
