Balla: There are no extra minutes in the election of the People's Advocate,

The head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, announced that the majority has undertaken continuous efforts to reach an agreement with the opposition on the election of the new Ombudsman. He stated that since September, an invitation has been extended to the Democratic Party to sit at the table and find consensus.

According to Balla, the process has advanced to the “90th minute” and there is no longer any room for postponement or new negotiations. “There is no extension to this match. It is only the Assembly that expresses itself by vote,” he said.

Balla stressed that the Ombudsman should be an independent figure and not affiliated with the Socialist Party. He underlined that the majority does not want to use its majority of 84 seats to impose the candidacy.

"The new Ombudsman must be a personality in the field of law, not linked to the Socialist Party. We do not want to use the power of cards in this institution because of numbers," declared Balla, reiterating the importance of consensus between political parties.

"We have made invitations to make an agreement. In September of this year, we invited the DP to sit down and choose. The law is a choice that goes beyond the agreement.

The procedure has progressed until the 90th minute. We are in the 90th minute. There is no extra time in this match. It is only the Assembly that expresses itself by vote.

"The new People's Advocate should not be a personality in the field of law who is connected to the SP. We do not want to use our cardboard strength for this institution because the people entrusted us with 84 mandates," said Balla./ CNA
