The head of the Socialist Party Group, Taulant Balla, spoke today regarding the name that will be voted on to take on the position of Ombudsman.

Invited to the show "Opinion" with journalist Blendi Fevziu, Balla said that the norm requires that this position be held by a name that comes as a proposal from the opposition.

According to Balla, it is important for the Socialist Party to be a figure who has no connection to the majority.

"On the first day of the beginning of the process, we decided that no SP MP should support any candidate with a signature, because it does not belong to us. It must come from the opposition. Not only in respect of the law, but of the parliamentary norm. Perhaps an agreement like the one on May 17 will be made. This is the only decision. Yesterday was the next meeting of the group, where I said nominally whether any of them had signed. After we saw those who came as names from the opposition, since they do not have the exclusivity of the opposition. There will undoubtedly be a decision. On Tuesday, the 9th, the group meeting will be held and it will be decided. You are not obliged to vote in the session because they are secret. I have 83 votes as a SP group, one more vote is needed. I am responsible for the 83 votes that the SP has. I believe that the Assembly has other political forces that will not boycott the process. Rama does not want his name to be linked to the current majority, because we could find "names and votes. I think that it should not be a figure that is connected to the SP and we do not want to use the power of cardboard to use this institution," Balla said. /CNA
