The Chairman of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group and Political Leader of the Socialist Party for the Diaspora, Taulant Balla, stated today that the opening of an Albanian consulate in Crete is an urgent need.
In his speech to the Foreign Policy Committee, Balla emphasized that a consulate on the Greek island is necessary for about 50 thousand compatriots living there.
Balla added that the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs will prioritize this issue, hoping that it will be realized in 2026.
"I am confident that the ministry will address the Prime Minister's commitment to have an Albanian consulate in Crete, Greece, by 2026. It is very necessary. 45,000 to 50,000 compatriots live in Crete, much more than in countries where we currently have embassies or consulates," Balla said. /CNA
