Democratic MP Ivi Kaso today focused on the situation in the Korça Region, after the intense rainfall of about a week ago, which created a series of problems in the area.

In his speech in the Assembly, Kaso harshly criticized the government for its lack of attention, while mentioning several concerns that residents faced.

Kaso said that the situation did not result from a natural disaster, but from a crisis of state management.

"A week ago, the Korça Region experienced heavy rainfall, where there was also one victim. About 400mm of rain fell, but the pain for the residents of these areas is not only from the rains, but also from the lack of a state that drowns people's hope. In Maliq, the flood was not only water for a piece of land, but also despair. About 66 reservoirs have been left without maintenance and cleaning. The Maliq Bridge, where 208 million lek were poured in 2023, did not serve the residents. The Vreshtas dam failed, after the embankments broke in weak areas. The production of trowels and potatoes was destroyed. Where does this lek go that did not go for the floods or their consequences? Velçan Street was blocked, after it was damaged by the branch of the irregular hydroelectric power plants. The problems of the citizens are not solved, but deepened. The residents, without any care and without institutions to avoid the causes. They have not been deepened in this region. Civil emergencies were unprepared. The residents of Korça Region did not see the state, but only water. It is not simply a natural disaster, but a crisis of state management", - said Kaso. /CNA
