At today's meeting of the Laws Committee, the draft law "On the prevention of conflict of interest in the exercise of public functions" is being reviewed.

During his speech, MP Oerd Bylykbashi said that this law should be made in such a way that it is effective in preventing corruption and abuse of office and not to create other conflicts. He also emphasized that people's constitutional rights should not be violated.

"In principle, I think that the law cannot be an extension of a general obligation without precision, because this creates a deadlock or non-implementation. The reason why we are asking for time to go into depth and get the right expertise, but in the end there is no logic at all. Will we make this law efficient and stop corruption and abuse of office or will we make a law simply to create other conflicts. To be used as a pressure mechanism. People who are not officials but are connected will be prevented from exercising their freedom of economic activity. Certainly, conflicts of interest must be prevented, but this law goes even further. We have half of the population who do not know what happens to their family members. Such a restriction can violate constitutional rights. We need to sharpen the pencil a lot with this law. A. Be efficient for what we want to prevent B.
