"Those who protect traffickers are free"/ Salianji: My 10 months of

Former Democratic MP Ervin Salianji held his first press conference this afternoon after his conviction and release from prison on Tuesday.

In his speech from the DP headquarters, Salianji focused on the approximately 10-month period of his sentence in Fier Prison.

Salianji also shared his stance on the judicial process, which he considered political, as he stated that those who defended the traffickers are free.

Salijanj's full statement:

I returned to the same room where I made the famous denunciation, one of the most effective denunciations that the DP and the opposition have made, where within a day, after denouncing the brother of the former Minister of the Interior for involvement in drug trafficking, he was handed over to the Italian authorities, as he had a final conviction from the Italian courts.

From here the conference began, undoubtedly in defense of the public interest, and now I return after almost 10 months, as I promised you on the last day, where from this headquarters and after meeting with you, I was escorted to surrender and serve my political sentence in the Fier prison.

Today, here we are again, unfortunately, with the same diseases that Albania has. With an Albania that, even with my punishment, has not benefited from any benefits, but has regressed in democracy.

After 30-odd years, Albania is punishing politically for agitation and propaganda for the first time.

So, to bring it back to the public's attention for many who may be following us for the first time, or many who due to their jobs may have forgotten the event, my political imprisonment was due to the involvement of one of the largest and most dangerous drug cartels linked to power.

As is happening and has happened in the elections that you have witnessed, the power of Prime Minister Rama and the power that now emanates, I cannot even say of the SP, but of a single person, emanates mainly from these connections and the political punishment was to send a message to other colleagues, but mainly to citizens that anyone who is against the government can suffer even without anything.

I got out of prison today, after serving my political sentence, like every citizen in this republic, after 2/3 of the sentence, you have the right to be released on parole. This too, as you have followed, has been delayed for 6 weeks. It is a sacrifice, in my view, on my part, for the benefit of the public interest.

It is the first time in 34 years that an individual, no longer a politician, has been convicted of this criminal offense, for false reporting, when no report was made at all. A public denunciation was made by the DP headquarters, in fulfillment of my function as a deputy and secretary for civic action at that time.

Nuk kam pasur ndonjë akuzë për korrupsion, nuk kam pasur ndonjë akuzë për vjedhje, nuk kam pasur ndonjë akuzë asnjë gjë tjetër, por vendimi i gjykatës e ka të shkruar e zezë mbi të bardhë, unë kam pasur qëllim të rrëzoj qeverinë, dhe meqë kam pasur qëllim të rrëzoj qeverinë dhe ia kam dalë në zonat ku kam mbuluar si përfaqësues i PD të mund dhe t’i mund përfaqësuesit e Edi Ramës në zonë, së bashku me të gjithë kategorinë që ai përdor në zgjedhje. Duhej që të izolohesha përpara zgjedhjeve dhe të dilja tani pas zgjedhjeve, siç duket për të trembur, intimiduar dhe për të përcjellë mesazhin e një regjimi.

Jemi në një regjim ku nuk ka më as kujdesin më minimal për të treguar të kundërtën, për të ruajtur koperturën, apo mbështjellësen e një demokracie. Jemi në një situatë, ku vullneti personal i një individi të vetëm vendos dhe përcakton mbi çdo institucion, mbi çdo normë, mbi çdo nen të shkruar në Kushtetutë apo në ligje të veçanta.

Pra, pasojat që solli denoncimi im, duhet thënë, sepse po përmbysen disa norma morale, të cilat shoqëritë në përgjithësi, që ndajnë të mirën dhe të keqen, vendosin disa norma, të cilat janë të pranueshme në shoqëri.

Pasoja e veprimit tim ishte që, një i dënuar për trafik ndërkombëtar droge shkoi dhe u dorëzua në institucionet e vuajtjes së dënimit në Itali.

Pra, çfarëdolloj veprimi të ishte, kur ka sjellë një pasojë pozitive për shoqërinë dhe nuk i ka sjellë asnjë pasojë negative personit i cili ka bërë denoncimin, por vetëm i ka sjellë kosto qeverisë, se ka zbuluar qeverinë, e zhveshur qeverinë, duke faktuar para qytetarëve shqiptarë, jo vetëm lidhjen e saj me kartelet e drogës, por edhe mbrojtjen politike që u jep, atëherë është përmbysur një normë e caktuar, që ua thashë që, i miri është ai që merret me trafik ndërkombëtar dhe që përfshihet në kartelet e drogës. Ndërkohë që, i keqi është ai që denoncon dhe fakton, dhe mbron interesin publik, pavarësisht çdo kostoje dhe me çdo sakrificë.

Në këtë kuptim, pavarësisht mënyrës së padrejtë të privimit të lirisë, dua ta rithem një shprehje që populli shqiptar e thotë: burgu nuk i urohet as hasmit. Por, pavarësisht kësaj, ju e keni parë që unë e kam marrë si një kosto që vjen për shkak të angazhimit publik, si një kosto që vjen për shkak të mosdorëzimit të së vërtetës, moralit apo personalitetit që ka individi. Dhe, unë besoj që, dhe jam ndjerë në shumë raste, kur kam parë që gjyqtarë që për shkak të dënimit politik si Gent Shala p.sh., jep një dënim politik për të shkuar në Gjykatë të Lartë. Këtu do të jemi, do t’i denoncoj përsëri nga fillimi të gjitha.

Për shkak të një dënimi politik, i emërohen familjarët e vet kryetarë bashkie të Shkodrës. Po mund të gjykohet cilido prej përfaqësuesve të PS, nesër ne do të jemi në pushtet dhe do të përballemi prapë.

Cilido prej jush, jo në të drejtë, por do të jemi përballë jush për të thënë që, nuk mundet një kryetar seksioni i PD, një militant i PD, të gjykojë një funksionar të lartë të PS.

What has it brought, starting from this case, since today I am talking about this case? And then we move on, to all, we are saying, not only the consequences but also the benefits that a judicial system has brought, which is used to hit the political opponent. To use it, not only to intimidate not only the political opponent, but as I have in parliament in certain interpellations, in the past elections they invented a law called OFL, to intimidate people with problems with the law, to include them in the electoral campaign for the SP.

Now, you have seen how they have played a trick with other elements of the Task Forces, to keep under pressure, not with the aim of enforcing the law, but with the primary aim of putting under pressure all elements that have problems with the law, call them cartels, gangs, thieves, whatever category you think, to have them in service and headquarters of Edi Rama's representatives in every corner of the territory of the Republic of Albania. /CNA
