"December 8 was born as Youth Day"/ Topalli: Today is the day of empty

Democratic Party MP Jozefina Topalli has reacted on social media to Youth Day.

Topalli writes that December 8th was born as Youth and Freedom Day, but today is the day of empty rooms, of houses without young people.

Further, Topalli writes that Azem Hajdari represented the courage to stand and love the country, while today the state is driving away the youth with poverty and injustice.

Topalli says that in 12 years, the youth population has shrunk by 46%.

Youth Day, without youth

December 8 was born as Youth and Freedom Day.

Today is the day of empty rooms, of lights that go out early, of houses that grow old without new voices.

Azem Hajdari represented the courage to stay, to love this country even when it was difficult.

Today, the government does not stop youth by force.

It drives him away with poverty, injustice, and hopelessness.

In just 12 years, the youth population has shrunk by 46%.

Without youth, Albania is not free!

Behind these figures are stories that do not appear in statistics.

It's the story of a 23-year-old girl, graduated with excellent results,

who today works as a waitress in a European city and says:

“I would like to apply here what I learned there.”

It's the story of a boy from the north,

who left sick parents and an unsold land,

because here work did not nourish dignity,

only survival.

It's the story of the young doctor who ran away

not that he didn't love the Albanian patient,

but because he refused to bow his head for a job.

It's the generation that didn't leave for a life of luxury,

but for an ordinary chance:

Honest work, decent wages, a predictable future.

This is not freedom.

It is a one-way street that a failed government calls "normality."

Youth Day, without youth,

It is the greatest pain a country can inflict on itself.

Because when the young people leave,

Albania is not only impoverished in numbers,

but grows old in spirit.
