Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj, arrested earlier this year on very serious criminal charges, has now been taken to court on 13 charges.

While SPAK has opened a faction, his money, that of his brother, that of his wife, is being investigated, although we have not seen SPAK do a vetting of Erion Veliaj, a vetting like the one it did to Altin Dumani and Arben Ahmetaj, that is, an in-depth investigation of his assets and more.

A vetting that included everything, lifestyle, expenses, but SPAK has stuck to corruption, accusations and other criminal offenses.

What has stood out is that most of the media have followed closely, have reported professionally, but the only one who has taken up the sword against SPAK and the prosecutors is Mero Baze.

Mero Baze was paid around 500 thousand euros by Erion Veliaj's brother and other companies linked to the mayor of Tirana.

These sums of money were given for a short period of time, according to data that CNA was able to obtain from the Tax Office. From this data it results that Arbër Veliaj pays Mero Bazen for advertisements of various companies, which are also beneficiaries of tenders in the Municipality of Tirana.

So, the scheme is very simple.

A company gives the distribution of the advertisement to Arbër Veliaj, Arbër Veliaj takes it to Mero Baze, but then this company goes and wins tenders at the Municipality of Tirana and it is not one case, but there are several, which we have reported before, such as the most famous connection with the company One Albania.

The latter has for some time been giving the advertising budget, around 5 million euros per year, to Arber Veliaj, who distributes it to the media, but it turns out that the One company is the beneficiary of tenders in the Municipality of Tirana.

The scheme is clear. Arbri shares the advertising, the company gets the tenders, Mero Baze is given the share.

So, it's a lot of money, hundreds of thousands of euros that Mero Baze is paid by Arbër Veliaj of Erion and companies linked to the mayor of Tirana, which do not pay ridiculous amounts, but hundreds of thousands of euros, which have made Mero a stinking journalist, a billionaire, with a hotel in Ksamil in the name of his son, with real estate in the name of him and his children, these amounts whose main source is the consultancies or the newspaper where Mero writes, slanders and deceives every day against institutions like SPAK, in defense of Erion Veliaj.

So, for those who wondered why Mero Baze had come out in such great defense of Erion Veliaj, besides the fact that he had employed the children or that he had used Erion for his own interests, building permits for people close to Mero Baze, employment or large sums of money in white and black.

The value we have discovered of 500 thousand euros is very little of the total millions that Mero Baze has added to his wealth, where the largest payer, of course, has been the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj./ CNA
