Tracks of Skanderbeg's horse" and their mythical history

Gjergj Kastriot-Skënderbeu is the National Hero of Albanians.

His deeds and victorious history against the Ottoman invaders in the XV century have surpassed his fame beyond Albanian lands, between legend and history.

His story is written and well known, while the stories told about his horse are also quite intriguing.

The stories say that when the Turks surrounded him, Skanderbeg's horse would jump up into the air and fall in the mountains, in a safe place. Where it fell, usually on a mountain, on a rock, on a slate, the "Footprints of Skanderbeg's horse" have remained in that place.

Today we have many toponyms with the name "Skanderbeg's horse tracks" or "Skanderbeg's stone". We have such in Qafë-Lure, in Arni of Kukës, in Lama of ?idhna (Dibër), in Mal of Bulqiza, in Pëstesh of Mirdita, in Krujë, in Macukull (Mat), in Gryke of Selita (Mirdita), in Rugovë , in Gramsh, in Pishkash (Librazhd), in Koçaxhik (Diber), etc. /CNA.al
