Ecuadorian drug cartel dismantled/ 4 tons of cocaine seized, several Albanians involved

An operation against international drug trafficking, led by Europol, succeeded in dismantling a network linked to the Ecuadorian cartel 'Los Lobos'. 

The operation seized about four tons of cocaine in total, including 572 kilograms in Ecuador; 2.6 tons in Vlissingen, Netherlands; 1.1 tons on June 2, 2025 in Rotterdam, Netherlands; 3.165 tons in Belgium.

The operation led to 16 people arrested; 4 cited for questioning; 26 house searches; 4 handguns and 2 rifles seized; US$810,000 in cash seized and several vehicles impounded.

The investigation revealed that the Ecuadorian network was collaborating with an Albanian drug trafficking organization, with members traveling to Ecuador to negotiate deals and secure large-scale shipments.

The cocaine entered a vast logistical network upon arrival in Europe, with shipments being rapidly divided, transported inland and distributed to many countries within the continent./CNA
