With around 26 thousand euros undeclared at the border / 2 citizens are being

Two citizens were criminally prosecuted after 25,950 euros of undeclared cash were found at the Kakavija Border Crossing Point, which was seized.

The citizens FV, ??60 years old, and MJ, 54 years old, are in the proceedings.

Announcement:

As a result of the maximum commitment of the Border Police services of the Kakavija BCP, to prevent and combat border crimes, in addition to the work to provide a quality and ethical service to citizens entering/exiting, 2 cases of non-declaration of money have been detected. Specifically, at the exit from the Republic of Albania, the following citizens were subjected to second-line control: 

-FV, who during a physical check was found to have 10,950 euros that he had not declared;  

-MJ, who was found to have 15,000 euros in her purse that she had not declared.   

Following the procedural actions in the case, the Crime Investigation specialists of the DVKM Gjirokastër referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office, where the proceedings were initiated in a free state for the criminal offense of "Failure to declare money and valuables at the border", for citizens FV, ??60 years old, resident of Berat, and MJ, 54 years old, resident of Tirana.

Also, sums of money were seized as material evidence.    

The procedural materials were transferred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Gjirokastra, for further action./CNA
