About 350 kilograms of cannabis seized in Kakavija

Around 350 kilograms of narcotics of the Cannabis Sativa type were seized today at the Kakavija Border Crossing Point.

It is learned that during the police operation codenamed "Risk", they found around 166 packages of cannabis inside a truck.

The 33-year-old EQ citizen, the driver of the truck, was immediately placed in handcuffs.

The Border Police Services, as a result of detailed controls to prevent, identify and crack down on attempts to traffic narcotics, as well as the intensification of controls based on risk analysis and information on operational routes, in cooperation with customs authorities and the Narcotics Investigation Section at the Gjirokastra Border Police Department, passed through a detailed scanner check and then to the second exit line the truck driven by citizen EQ.

Upon thorough inspection, the Police services found hidden, in a specially created place on the floor of the truck, under its cover, around 166 packages, inside which were suspected narcotics, cannabis, with a total weight of around 350 kilograms.

Following the initial investigative actions, the Narcotics Investigation specialists of the Gjirokastër Police Department arrested in flagrante delicto the citizen EQ, 33 years old, resident of Tirana, truck driver.

As material evidence, approximately 350 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa and the truck were seized.

The structures of the Gjirokastra DVP, in cooperation with other DVPs, under the direction of the Gjirokastra Prosecution, are continuing investigative actions to identify other persons involved in this criminal activity.

The procedural materials will be forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Gjirokastra, for further action for the criminal offense of "Trafficking in Narcotics". / CNA
