Check in a cigarette shop/ Over 1,000 contraband packages seized, owner arrested

A police operation codenamed "Cigarette" has ended with the seizure of 1,115 packs of cigarettes without fiscal stamps suspected of being smuggled.

The operation was carried out on "Xhanfize Keko" street in Tirana.

Meanwhile, citizen DM, 52 years old, the owner of a business, was arrested in flagrante delicto.

Announcement:

Specialists of the Economic and Financial Crimes Investigation Section, in continuation of their work to prevent, identify and crack down on criminal activities in the field of goods smuggling, as a result of an investigative work carried out on the basis of information provided, organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Cigarette".

During the operation, a search was conducted at the shop (tabachino) of citizen DM, where it was found that suspected smuggled cigarette packs were being sold and the income gained from this activity was being hidden.

Following the procedural actions, citizen DM, 52 years old (the owner of the store) was arrested in flagrante delicto.

As material evidence, 1,115 packs of cigarettes, without fiscal stamps, found during the search of the 52-year-old's store and apartment, were seized.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor 's Office for further action./CNA
