Fires in the province of Ourense, Spain / Over 9 thousand hectares of land

More than 9,000 hectares have been burned by wildfires across Spain's Ourense province in Galicia, where residents have been evacuated as flames approach homes.

In the town of San Ciprián de Vinas, people were forced to evacuate due to a level 2 emergency declared by the regional government.

Since the beginning of August, more than 10,000 people have been evacuated across the country and three fatalities have been reported, including a firefighter north of Madrid.

Crews are also battling the flames in Asturias, working since the early hours in Cangas de Narcea.

Authorities warn that hot and dry conditions will continue despite calmer winds that are helping firefighters' efforts./CNA
