Trump-Putin summit in Alaska/ What is known about the upcoming meeting

Details were revealed this Thursday about the long-awaited meeting in Alaska between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin that will take place on Friday.

Putin's aide, Yuri Ushakov, said Thursday that the talks will take place at the US Air Force's Elmendorf-Richardson Joint Base in Anchorage and that the summit's program has been finalized.

The meeting will begin with a one-on-one conversation between leaders in the presence of translators at 21:30 CEST.

A working breakfast is planned immediately after, and its duration and time depend on how the initial conversation goes. After the working breakfast, the talks will continue in a broader format with delegations.

The Russian delegation will include Ushakov, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, and the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev.

The form of the American delegation has not been announced.

Trump has said Russia will face serious consequences if Friday's meeting with him and Putin does not go well in terms of Moscow's willingness to end the war against Ukraine./CNA
