Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has again called on the United States and other allies to "quickly implement" deals on arms and other supplies to help Ukraine fight the Russian-led invasion.

In a video message published in the late hours of September 14, he said that "it is of critical importance that all countries, except the USA, immediately implement the agreements reached with Ukraine".

"The impact must be felt at the front," Zelensky said. "Every delay of military packages has negative consequences on the front. Every delivery on time, fast delivery has a positive impact".

Major efforts to aid Ukraine militarily are continuing, as NATO faces calls from some member states to supply Kiev with more advanced weapons.

Kiev also repeatedly says it needs to launch strikes inside Russian territory with long-range weapons in order to defend itself against Russian occupation forces. This Ukrainian argument has been supported by some NATO officials.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer met at the White House on September 13 with US President Joe Biden to discuss whether to approve Ukraine's request to use long-range weapons against targets in Russia.

US national security adviser Jake Sullivan said on September 14 that Biden "is determined to use the four months remaining in his term to put Ukraine in the best possible position in order to triumph".

Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier this week that the West would be "at war" with Russia if it allowed Ukraine to attack with Western-made long-range missiles, while Medvedev said on September 14 that Russia could destroy the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, with non-nuclear weapons if the West lifts its restrictions.

Medvedev, who now serves as the chairman of the Security Council of Ukraine, also said that Russia could use nuclear weapons./ REL
