Koas at the Oncologist/ 40 people overturn what they find in front of them

About forty people attended the Oncology department of the Pescara hospital on Friday morning, causing great chaos. They overturned tables, threw various objects on the floor and insulted health workers.

Police intervention was necessary to restore order and peace. The raid on the fifth floor of the hospital by citizens of Roma ethnicity, around 7:00 a.m., apparently happened after learning about the death of a relative, a 60-year-old man with a serious pathology. After the intervention of the guard, both the agents of the flying squad and the carabinieri arrived at the hospital. 

"I strongly condemn the hateful act of violence perpetrated by a group of about forty people to the detriment of health care workers, patients and assets of the Oncology department of the Pescara hospital," says ASL director general Vero Michitelli.

"A department like Oncology, where fragility and hope coexist, should never have been the scene of such a cowardly and senseless attack. Our operators, doctors, nurses and social health workers, dedicate themselves every day to patient care with the utmost professionalism and humanity. Seeing their commitment and dedication so brutally scorned fills me with contempt and indignation."

And it continues: "The episode during which acts of damage were committed in the hospital", is not only an attack on the dignity of the operators of this company, but constitutes a deep wound for the entire hospital community and for all those who believe in the value of health and respect for others".

"On behalf of the company, I express the maximum solidarity with the staff involved, the patients present and assure my full support. I thank the police forces that intervened quickly and ask the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Prefecture and the Commissariat to implement all actions aimed at guaranteeing the safety of all those who work in the company and protecting the right to health of every citizen./ CNA
