VIDEO-Peter Magyar's victory/Massive celebrations in Budapest, extraordinary drone footage

Reuters-Thousands of supporters of the center-right Tisza party celebrated Peter Magyar's victory in Hungary's national election.

"We did it. Tisza and Hungary have won these elections," Magyar told his supporters, who celebrated along the elegant banks of the Danube River in central Budapest.

Many held candles as Frank Sinatra's "My Way" blared over the speakers as the election winners took the stage.

Hungary's veteran nationalist leader Viktor Orban lost power to the new center-right Tisza party in Sunday's election after 16 years in office, marking a setback for his allies in Russia and in the White House of U.S. President Donald Trump.

His landslide defeat gave Peter Magyar of Tisza, 45, a majority in the 199-seat legislature, opening the door to reforms of a system that critics in the European Union said subverted democratic norms.
