Accusations about the "Milot-Balldren" road/ Karakaçi refutes

The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, has spoken about the costs of the Milot-Balldren axis.

Karakaçi stated that there has been disinformation in the public from both the opposition and the media about the costs of building this road.

"Since the moment we announced the winner of the project for the construction of the Milot-Balldren road, I have noticed a disinformation about the costs of building this road, which comes from both the opposition and some uninformed media. It is unjustifiable that those who inform the public continue to do the same thing for years and years, treating a road as a piece of cloth. It is not a ready-made thing that you buy in a store. It is a territory and it is not the same anywhere; there is a field, there is a mountain and according to the characteristics of the territory, the costs also change," Karakaçi declared.

He further explained that a concession contract includes not only the costs of the road but also operation, routine maintenance, intelligent systems, economic charging, as well as in-depth maintenance for a 35-year period.

He emphasized that the total figure of 364.7 million euros is the total value of the concession contract for 35 years, which includes design, construction, electronic system, operation and maintenance, while the cost of constructing the highway is 182 million euros.

"In a concession contract, the payment also includes operation, routine maintenance, intelligent systems, electronic tolling, as well as in-depth maintenance for a period of 35 years. In-depth maintenance means that after a period of time, the road will be resurfaced with asphalt to maintain the required standard.
