Trump: We reached an agreement with NATO to purchase weapons that will be delivered to Ukraine

US President Donald Trump said today that he has reached an agreement with NATO to purchase weapons that will be delivered to Ukraine, while meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Washington.

"We reached a deal today where we will send weapons to Ukraine and NATO will pay for them," Trump announced at a press conference at the White House.

The US is ready to implement 100% tariffs on Russia in response to President Vladimir Putin's lack of interest in ending his war in Ukraine, which could begin within 50 days, according to Trump.

"We are very unhappy with Russia and we are going to impose very tough tariffs, about 100%," Trump said.

Trump has publicly expressed frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin's reluctance to reach a peace deal in Ukraine, accusing the Russian leader of playing "foolish games" with Washington. /CNA
