NATO chief visits Washington tomorrow/ Expected meeting with President Trump

NATO chief Mark Rutte will visit Washington on Monday, July 14, and Tuesday, July 15. During the two-day visit, Rutte is expected to meet with US President Donald Trump.

Rutte will also meet with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. The meetings with the latter are mentioned by NATO in a press release.

The press release did not give an immediate reason for Rutte's visit, but Trump said in a recent interview with NBC News that the US would be willing to supply weapons to Ukraine through NATO and that he would make a major announcement on Monday.

The US administration has so far only sent weapons authorized by former President Joe Biden, who was a supporter of Kiev. /CNA
