 'Pandoro Gate' Scandal/ Blogger Chiara Ferragni acquitted of fraud

Italian fashion influencer and blogger Chiara Ferragni was acquitted this Wednesday of fraud charges by a criminal court in Milan in connection with the so-called "Pandoro Gate" scandal, Italian news agency ANSA reports.

The case concerned alleged misleading advertising related to sales of Balocco 'Pink Christmas' Pandoro and Dolci Preziosi Easter eggs in 2021 and 2022.

The Italian Antitrust Authority ordered two companies linked to Ferragni to pay at least 1.2 million euros over a three-year period to the children's charity 'I Bambini delle Fate' for Dolci Preziosi Easter eggs.

Also in 2024 Ferragni donated 200,000 euros to victims of gender-based violence in an agreement with consumer group CODACONS to withdraw its complaint over the charity's products.

The Milan court ruled that, having denied the aggravating factors that prosecutors attributed to the charges, it could not pursue the case without an appeal in relation to it.

Ferragni's former right-hand man, Fabio Damato, and Francesco Cannillo, the president of Dolci Preziosi's parent company, Cerealitalia, were also acquitted of the charges./CNA
