Seven killed in drone attack on bus in Russian-controlled part of Ukraine

Seven people have been killed and 11 others injured in a drone attack on a passenger bus traveling through a Russian-controlled part of Ukraine, an official said.

Denis Pushilin, the Kremlin-installed leader of Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region, said the bus was hit in the early hours of Wednesday while traveling between Moscow and Simferopol, in Russian-occupied Crimea.

Russia shot down more than 350 drones overnight, according to Russian officials.

The drone strike comes a day after a massive Russian attack on cities across Ukraine, which killed at least 22 people, including several women and children.

At least 50 drones were shot down over the Leningrad region northwest of Moscow, according to regional governor Alexander Drozdenko.

The region includes the city of St. Petersburg, which from Wednesday will host the annual World Economic Forum, an event designed to showcase Russia to the world.

Organizers say delegations from more than 130 countries and territories will attend, including Chinese Vice President Han Zheng and the presidents of Uzbekistan and Tanzania.
