Moscow has destroyed or damaged more than 500 cultural sites, including 150 religious sites, in more than three years of its war, according to UNESCO.

These include the Cathedral in Odessa and the Popov Manor House in the town of Vasylivka in the Zaporizhzhya region.

The protection of Ukraine's cultural heritage, which has been threatened by more than three years of all-out war with Russia, was at the center of the conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine.

The European Commission and 22 Member States will join forces in a "Team Europe" approach to support the preservation of Ukrainian culture.

The EU will allocate an additional €2 million to support Ukraine's cultural sector, bringing its contribution to €7 million this year and €48 million since the start of Russia's all-out war in early 2022./CNA
