The US administration is continuing its standoff with Harvard University, warning that the institution's accreditation could be challenged and issuing a subpoena to the university demanding information about its international students.
The Education and Health Departments said they had notified the Higher Education Commission that Harvard may not meet the standards, citing incidents of anti-Semitism on campus during pro-Palestinian protests following the start of the Israel-Hamas war.
"By allowing rampant discrimination against Jews on its campus, Harvard University has failed to fulfill its obligations to its students, faculty, and American taxpayers," said Education Secretary Linda McMahon.
The Department of Education expects the relevant committee to implement its policies and keep the department fully informed of actions to ensure that Harvard operates in accordance with federal law and accreditation standards. /CNA
