A court in Bosnia and Herzegovina has lifted the detention order for Radovan Viškovi?, Prime Minister of Republika Srpska (RS), and Nenad Stevandic, Speaker of the RS Parliament, Radio Television of Republika Srpska reports.
The hearing was held on Wednesday, July 9, where they were given preventive measures - specifically, the obligation to report every 14 days to the competent police body, the announcement said.
A few days ago, this court also lifted the detention order for Milorad Dodik, president of RS.
The Prosecutor's Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina issued an order in March of this year for their escort by the judicial police.
According to this order, the three are accused of committing the criminal offense of "attack on the constitutional order".
The order was issued on the day the RS parliament was expected to discuss the Draft of the new RS Constitution, through which the authorities in this entity plan to define RS as a state of the Serbian people, grant them the right to self-determination, establish their own army and abolish the Council of Peoples.
The Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina provides for sentences of up to five years in prison and a ban on exercising official functions for anyone who “illegally attempts to change the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, or to overthrow its highest institutions.”
Meanwhile, the Constitutional Court in Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued a temporary measure to suspend the implementation of the Law on the Special Register and Transparency of the Work of Non-Profit Organizations. The request was filed by Kemal Ademovi?, Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples in the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This law, adopted by the RS Assembly, modeled after Russian law, imposes strict control over the work of the civil sector in this entity.
Dodik has stated that the laws will be implemented regardless of this court decision.
The latest laws have been almost unanimously condemned in the international arena – from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, to many foreign embassies in Bosnia and Herzegovina./ REL
