"We're doing very well"/ Trump: US military action in Iran is a

US President Donald Trump held a meeting with several Latin American leaders in Doral, Florida, today. Also present at the meeting were Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, as well as other administration officials, including recently fired Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem.

Trump began his speech with the situation in Iran, saying that US operations in Iran are going very well. He further stated that he aims to keep American deaths in the Iran war to a minimum.

"I'll be heading to Dover shortly after that. Very sad situation, to say hello to the families of the heroes who are coming home from Iran, coming home in a different way than they thought they would. But they are great heroes in our country, and we're going to keep it that way. When it comes to war, there are always casualties—but we're going to keep that number to a minimum, I think, Pete," Trump said, referring to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

He added that the American military action in the region that he ordered was a "service" to the world.

"A service that we are really providing, not to the Middle East, but to the world. These were sick people, very sick people," Trump said.

President Trump said the US had neutralized 42 Iranian naval vessels in three days, disabling most of the country's air power and telecommunications systems.

At the same time, Donald Trump announced a new military coalition to eliminate cartels in the Western Hemisphere, noting that 17 countries have officially joined the alliance. /CNA
