Qatar warns: War could completely block energy exports

Qatar warned today that if the conflict in the Middle East continues, energy exports from Persian Gulf countries could stop completely within weeks, which could cause a global energy crisis.

The warning was made by Qatar's energy minister, Saad al-Kaabi, who said the situation was becoming very dangerous for international oil and gas trade.

The main problem is the strategic sea route of Hormuz, through which a very large part of the world's energy passes, about 20% of the world's oil and gas passes through this strait.

Military conflict and attacks on tankers and energy infrastructure have caused maritime traffic to be disrupted or significantly reduced.
