Hegseth: US attacks on Iran will increase dramatically

In a briefing at US Central Command, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, along with Central Command Admiral Brad Cooper and President Donald Trump, discussed US operations against Iran.

Hegseth stated that the amount of firepower over Iran and over Tehran will increase significantly, signaling a possible intensification of American military actions.

He also stressed that the UK's decision to allow the use of the military base on Diego Garcia will help the US increase operations in the region. According to him, this permission came late from London.

"It was unfortunate that the British didn't say from day one 'Go ahead and have access,' but we did it," Hegseth said.

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that the United Kingdom will send four more Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets to join the British squadron stationed in Qatar.

Starmer said Britain has allowed the US to use its bases to conduct "defensive operations," highlighting military cooperation between the two countries at a time of heightened tensions in the region./ CNA
