US President Donald Trump said in a telephone interview with the Reuters news agency that he supports an attack by Kurdish forces on Iran.
"It would be great if the Kurds wanted to do this," Trump said.
When asked whether the United States would provide or had provided air cover for any Kurdish offensive, Trump said: “I can’t tell you that.”
In calls this week with leaders of the Kurdish minority in Iran and neighboring Iraq, Trump reportedly offered extensive US air cover and other support for Iranian Kurds to take control of areas of western Iranian territory, according to people familiar with the discussions. /CNA
