Osmani dissolved the Parliament/ Kurti: Unconstitutional decree, the court will

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti spoke for the first time after the country's President Vjosa Osmani's decision to dissolve the Parliament.

In a press conference, Kurti stated that this decision is not in accordance with the Constitution and that the court should first rule on this issue.

"There is a 60-day deadline to elect the president and we have only been in the Assembly hall for 30 minutes. The 60-day criterion has not been met, it is no longer May 5th today, but March 6th. The decree on the dissolution is not constitutional because the power to dissolve the Assembly can only be exercised in cases expressly prescribed by the Constitution. However, this process did not even manage to consume the first round after all the deputies of the opposition parties and the party that continues to be led from Belgrade were absent. You all saw the scene of the session last night, who was in the center, who was not in the center was not there because he did not come. No deputy who was absent has notified the speaker of the reason for his absence, therefore the matter is in the Constitutional Court. It is the duty of the deputies to perform their duties as elected by the people, to come to their workplace and there to participate and vote. We find ourselves in a situation where I do not believe that we can "Let's talk about elections without the Constitutional Court having the last word. They have a matter that they need to analyze," Kurti declared. /CNA
